Mariam Foundation was started by Mary Muthoni as a legacy to honor my late grandmother Mariam Marigu who raised 7 of her grandchildren (me included) despite living in abject poverty in a rural village in Kenya. She was a woman without money, but with a big heart, lots of love and care to share.  Mariam passed away on 18^th August 2018  at a good age of over 90 years (actual date of birth not known due to lack of records at her childhood period).

The Mariam Foundation wishes to reach out to children, youths, and their care givers (with special focus on grandmothers) who have big hearts to care for others, but who find themselves limited by material poverty.

The Mariam Foundation’s main objectives will be to promote education, health, and  socioeconomic wellbeing of the target groups in economically deprived areas in Kenya.
